Field Preparation and Transplants

Posted on by Tim Livingstone

We are busy doing field work and getting things seeded in anticipation of the rain.  A few short weeks ago it looked like spring was a long way off, now it is like summer.  We had to stop transplanting because the ground is too dry but hope to continue later this week if we get a little rain.

The greenhouse is filling up  with transplants getting ready to plant out.  Here is lettuce ready to plant either later this week or early next week.

This photo shows large sweet onion plants ready to go into the ground.  We hope to start planting them tomorrow.

I'm not sure if you can see in the photo, but the first cherry tomato buds are showing in the growing tip of the plant.  Once the first flowers are open, we will plant these into our cold frames and hope to have cherry tomatoes by mid July.
