Our First Caterpillar Tunnel

Posted on by Tim Livingstone

We put up our first Caterpillar tunnel today.  It is made of pvc pipes for arches, dog anchors for tie downs, spikes, string and some posts.  It is covered with a fine screen to keep the insects away from our pepper plants.  In this photo we are putting in anchors and laying out the parts.

The string was too stretchy on our first attempt so it did not stay standing but our second attempt looks great!

We are planting peppers inside it here.  If all goes well, in the future it will only take a few hours to put it up or to move it since it is such a simple structure.  It also costs a fraction of what a full greenhouse would cost.  This one is about 15' wide by almost 300' long.
