We had a great turnout for Open Farm Day yesterday. We estimate that we had over 120 people here between noon and 4:00pm. I was so busy taking tours and talking all afternoon that I did not have a chance to take pictures, but we had friends taking pictures so I'll post some soon.
This is our last official Open House for this year, but if you are going to be in the neighborhood feel free to give us a call and stop in.
Today we cut squash vines and dug sweet potatoes. We hope to send sweet potatoes in next week's boxes. They did very well this summer. We are glad to see a good crop which will help make up for some of the short crops due to the dry summer. We grow 40 crops which I consider our crop insurance. If one crop does poorly, another is likely to do well.
We did our last hay harvest last week. It was a light cutting, but the quality looks good. We are a bit tight on winter hay so every bit helps!
