Your Strawberry Hill Farm Update for the Week

Hello to all our Thursday customers.

Please remember to bring your bags with you when picking up your boxes tomorrow (Tuesday).  It would also be great if you could let us know if your box is not going to be picked up.   This would help so we are not wondering if you have forgotten and can simply set your box aside to take to the food bank.

The veggies are ripening more slowly than we expected.  This has been a season of extremes with hot and dry then a week with 8 inches of rain then hot and dry again.  I contacted three local organic farmers looking for more produce and no-one has extra veggies to spare.  The strawberry season ended early and the broccoli and cauliflower is much smaller than in previous years.  Raspberries are ripening, but there are not enough yet to send in the boxes.  As a result, the boxes are a bit smaller than we would like to see this week.  We have seeded and planted more for later so we can make up the difference in later boxes, but please bare with us and understand in the short term.

For farm news, please see our blog which is accessible from our web page banner or by clicking this link - Our Blog

Specific information on the boxes along with recipes, preparation ideas etc. are available in a pdf document here - Box Information  We have information about cooking summer squash and zucchini but it looks like we will run a little short for all the boxes.  If you don't get any this week, hold onto the recipe for next week :-)

Enjoy your veggies!
